A Liederabend (in German, “Lieder:” songs; “Abend:” evening) is a recital of art songs, compositions for voice and piano. Our version of a Liederabend—a Bratschenliederabend (in German, "Bratsche:" viola)—expands that definition by giving the vocal line to the viola, an instrument most suited for that task because of its human-like range, imperfections, and contradictions. In expanding that definition, we invite you into our journey to find new perspectives and interpretations of these beloved vocal works.
